C5石油树脂是由石油裂解制造烯烃时所得的裂解油，分离出的异戊二烯、环戊二烯、1，3-戊二烯、1-戊烯在酸性催化剂存在下聚合而成。淡黄色或浅棕色片状或块状固体，平均分子量400-2000，相对密度0．97-1. 07，软化点70-140 ℃，折射率1．512，燃点260℃。良好的粘接性、耐热性、安定性、耐水性、耐酸碱性。与酚醛树脂、萜烯树脂、古马隆村脂、天然橡胶、合成橡胶相容性好，尤其是与丁苯橡胶(SBR)相容性优。溶于丙酮、甲乙酮、醋酸乙酯、二氯乙烷、环己烷、苯、甲苯、溶剂汽油等。
用作配制压敏胶、热熔压敏胶、热熔胶和橡胶型胶粘剂的增料树脂。贮存于阴凉、通风、千燥的库房内，防火、防潮。
