| 部落 tribe 民族共同体发展中的一种历史类型。由同一血缘的两个以上的氏族或胞族组成。形成于原始社会晚期（即旧石器时代的中期和晚期）。有较明确的地域、名称、方言、宗教信仰和习俗，有以氏族酋长和军事首领组成的部落议事会，部分部落还设最高首领。美国民族学家摩尔根在《古代社会》中对处于母系制阶段的印第安人部落形态作有详细记述。古希腊荷马时代，部落已建立在父系制基础之上，有作为常设权力机关的议事会和掌握军事指挥、祭祀、审判等权的军事首长（巴赛勒斯）。古罗马王政时代，每一部落须由十个库里亚（胞族）构成，并设元老院、 人民大会、 和勒克斯 (王)。进入原始公社后期，因各种战争的日益频繁，最终导致了血缘联系逐渐被地域联系所取代，出现了由若干部落的解体并结合而成的部落联盟，成为原始公社瓦解的开始和新的民族共同体部族或民族出现的前提。
