对健康态和疾病本质的正确判断。这是临床医生对患者通过问诊、体格检查、实验室检查以及特殊检查结果，根据医学知识和临床经验，再经过综合、分析、推理而得出的正确结论。一个完善的临床诊断，除了反映确切的疾病性质以外，还要反映病人机体的全面状态。一般应具有三个类型的诊断，才能符合临床实际需要。即：*病因诊断、*病理解剖诊断和*病理生理诊断。此外在完善的综合临床诊断中，还应反映出疾病一定阶段的动态变化，称为疾病的分；期同一疾病由于发病形式的不同而再进行区分时，称为疾病的分型。临床诊断的分类分期和分型有利于更确切地反映疾病的本质和进程情况。对及时准确的治疗具有重要的指导作用。
