已飞回美国本土的f14a(tomcat) 战斗机
据日本媒体报道，以驻日美国海军横须贺基地为母港的“小鹰”号航空母舰上的11架舰载f14a(通称tomcat)战斗机由于机体老化等原因，已经撤离并于上月24日飞回了美国加州的海军基地。11月初,12架大输出功率的最新型战斗机fa18f(super hornet)即将配备到该舰上。
据介绍，这种fa18f(super hornet)战斗机是fa18(hornet)的改良型，fa18(hornet)现在有35架在日本的厚木基地服役。经过改良的fa18f(super hornet)战斗机具有更强的攻击力，机体比原来大出25%，最大航行距离也有所延长。由于其引擎的输出功率比原机型提高了约35%，飞行训练时产生的噪音所带来的影响将会更加严重，对此,当地民众已颇有微词。
