性质：指某些不易透过血脑屏障的药物或经鞘内注射进入蛛网膜下腔，使脑脊液内达到一定的药物浓度，并直接作用于中枢神经系统。如脑脊膜炎危重病人，可将抗菌药物进行鞘内注射，达到治疗目的。此外局部麻醉药也可注入蛛网膜下腔，麻醉受苦内神经根，适用于腹部或下肢手术。
