法因，字刳心，姓顾，明州慈溪人。学于草庵因法师，尽其旨要，时称为小因。主广寿寺三十年，冥心净业，昼夜讲演，未尝一日诣族姓家。施者至，不得却，受其少分。所居室，或劝新之。曰，此躯尚无常，何事外物为哉。绍熙四年八月，示疾，于定中见净土二菩萨。谓左右曰，吾睹法华道场，与平时所见异甚。吾将行矣，即集众讽观经，称佛号。或请留偈，乃书曰，我与弥陀本无二，二与不二并皆离。我今如此见弥陀，感应道交难思议。挺身端坐，结印而化。（佛祖统纪）
