民主德国最大的以生产塑料和合成橡胶为主的化工联合企业。总部设在哈雷专区施科保镇，其前身是布纳化工厂，1936年始建，1939年建成投产。当时纳粹德国为了准备发动战争，需要生产合成橡胶以取代进口的天然橡胶，该厂生产电石（碳化钙）、乙炔以及乙炔法制丁二烯，以提供合成橡胶的原料。同时还生产醋酸、氯乙烯等有机产品，首创了乳液法聚氯乙烯生产。
1953年将布纳化工厂收归国营，1976年合并了一些生产塑料助剂和塑料制品的化工厂，成立了布纳化工联合企业。固定资产为106亿马克,1983年产值达62亿马克，相当于民主德国化工总产值的10％。该联合企业以自产电石、烧碱及外购石油产品为原料，生产有机中间体、合成树脂、橡胶和溶剂、助剂等。1983年电石的产量达1.3Mt,乙炔产品的产值占到总产值的45％，是目前世界上最大的电石生产厂。每年耗用的主要原料：褐煤 4Mt、石灰石1Mt、食盐700kt、焦炭1Mt。
布纳化工联合企业除总厂外，设有四个分厂。①格赖斯-德兰助剂厂,生产聚氯乙烯稳定剂、增塑剂等。②奥比塔塑料厂，生产聚乙烯膜、聚氯乙烯异型材和管材。③艾伦堡化工厂，生产过氧化物、醋酸纤维素及其衍生物、聚氯乙烯粒料和特种有机产品。④阿门多夫塑料厂，生产聚氯乙烯糊以及生活消费品如地板料等塑料制品。
