氧化钙
calcium oxide
    化学式CaO,白色粉末,不纯者为灰白色。俗称石灰或生石灰。熔点2614℃,沸点2850℃,相对密度3.25~3.38。氧化钙为碱性氧化物,溶于水形成氢氧化钙。氧化钙在空气中逐渐吸收二氧化碳,转变为碳酸钙。碳酸钙在加热时生成氧化钙  ,大规模生产都用石灰石做原料  ,石灰窑的温度约1000℃,反应产生的二氧化碳气体不断逸出,使反应进行得很完全。在空气中和高温下加热氧化钙,会放出强烈的白光,称为石灰光,被利用来制造高强弧光灯。氧化钙大量用于建筑业,在1∶3(体积比)的熟石灰和砂子的混合物中加水制成的泥浆称为灰泥,用于砌砖等。在高温下,氧化钙和酸性氧化物发生反应:

   常利用上述反应除去氧化后生成的酸性氧化物,同时也可以与硫化亚铁作用除去钢水中过量的硫:高温
