中国规模和影响较大的卷烟厂。原系英美烟草公司在上海通北路的加工厂，建于1925年。1949年因经营亏损,负债近1.27亿元。1952年4月2日由人民政府接管,改名上海卷烟二厂，归属上海烟草公司，当时年产量约18万箱(50000支装)。1956年,原南洋兄弟烟草股份有限公司上海制造厂并入。1958年改称今名。全厂现拥有制丝、卷制、接嘴、包装 4个生产车间和机修、供应与总务等辅助部门,建筑总面积11万米2。主要设备有：制丝生产线5条,卷烟机101台,包装机61台，滤嘴成型机20台。所产卷烟中，烤烟型有"中华"、"红双喜"、"牡丹"、"金得利"、"大前门"和"熊猫"等牌,混合型有"金中华"牌,外香型有"凤凰"牌,低焦油卷烟有"高乐"牌。1989年卷烟产量896545万箱(5万支／箱),产值9.38亿元。各项技术经济指标居中国同行业前列。1979年以来，"中华"、"牡丹"、"熊猫"、"双喜"、"大前门"和"凤凰"牌卷烟，曾先后获部级和上海市优秀产品称号。1987年，"中华"牌卷烟获国家优质产品金质奖。
