    　　遥测系统中的通信系统，包括通信设备和通信道。图中示出遥测通信机的模型（si为输入信号，s0为输出信号,Ni为输入噪声,N 为信道噪声，N0为输出噪声）。通信设备由发送端的一次、二次、三次调制器和接收端的三次、二次、一次解调器组成。空间传播特性则包括电磁波的衰减特性、时延特性和噪声特性。在设计系统时，一次调制是对来自传感器的信号进行调制，三次调制是根据空间传播特性而设计的，二次调制则是基于信息结构或技术考虑而设计的中间环节。实际使用时不一定同时具备一次、二次、三次调制，根据遥测系统的实际情况，可采用单重调制、双重调制或三重调制系统。遥测通信机与普通通信机的区别在于遥测系统的信源特性和通道特性比较复杂。遥测通信机有多种形式，以适应不同的信息源和不同的通道，达到高效率和高可靠性的信息传输的目的。遥测信息传播的空间也有多种类型，可在地面两点间通过电话线连接，也可在相距几十到几百公里的两点间进行无线通信或光通信，也可以是相距几百到几千公里甚至更远的宇宙通信。
