The authors applied drip irrigation in sandy land shelterbelt cultivation for the first time,and discussed the benefits of water saving,energy saving,labour saving and the investment benefits.

The results of 4-year s trial showed that when drip irrigation was applied in the establishment of sandy land shelterbelt,the optimal design scheme were as follows:the diameter of drip tube 12 mm,drip flux 3.

The results showed that: with increase in age,the site quality of plantation for wind protection and sand fixation was changed obviously,bulk density decreased,soil porosity increased,soil water holding capacity improved and soil fertility enhanced,the physical and chemical characteristics of soil were improved to some extent.

Through the comparison on wind-resistant effect among five kinds of forest for wind resistance and sand prevention and shifting sandy land,the results show: Haloxylon ammondendron and Hedysarum scaparium have better wind-resistant effects because of large plant size,and Calligonum mongolicum,Hedysarum fruticosum var.

Establishing grass belt outer fringe on sandy coast shelter forest is an effective method because nursery stocks were propagated by cuttings or vegetative offsprings in nutritive pot, and then transplanted at outer fringe on sandy coast shelter forest.
