The influence of different widths of bermes upon the stability,overtopping and stress on the parapet wall of a rubble mound breakwater under the action of waves was analyzed with model testing,on the basis of which the width of the berme to armour a rubble mound breakwater was modified,thus optimizing the width of the berme.

Physical section model tests were made to collect massive data of horizontal wave pressure and bottom uplift pressure on the parapet on the top of sloping breakwater under different platform width B and working conditions, and the variation law of wave pressure on parapet with platform width B was obtained by analyzing and summarizing these data.
