Urban Rapid Rail Transit (URRT) is an important tool of transportation in manycities around the world with its apparent advantages over others, like large capacity,time-accuracy and fastness.

Based on the analyses of the role, functions and passenger flow characteristics of Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity rapid mass transit, the basic idea that intercity mass transit should be taken as a regional passenger corridor was proposed, and the technical route of passenger volume forecasting based on the four-step forecasting method was put forward.

An analysis is made of the factors affecting the running models of regional rapid rail lines on the basis of overseas experiences.
