插霄峰即东崖，又名东峰，海拔817米，九华山名峰着之一。此峰峻峭高耸，两侧悬崖孤削，横截九华街东。花潭涧和龙溪夹峰奔流，汇于龙池。西南为化城盆地，香烟缭绕；东北为闵园峡谷，云雾蒸腾。每当云雾从龙池涌起，触此峰则分成两股云团分别涌向九华街和闵园鼓地，十分壮观。插霄峰全山都是景，悬崖、古寺、奇松、怪石相映成趣。近几年常有猴群出没，一些野猴常到寺院“作客”，为游人增添了情趣。古诗云：“绝顶览群峰，巍然插太空。溪腾青掩映，崖壑碧玲珑。”
