From March 2003 to May 2005, we conducted the study on the mother-infant relationships, male care and infant development (during their second years) of wild Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys (Rhinopithecus roxellana) at the Zhouzhi National Nature Reserve of the Qinling Mountains.

为中国特产种。主要分布于陕西、四川、甘肃和湖北。
形态特殊，唇肥厚而突出，颜面天蓝，鼻孔向上仰;体长530-770毫米;头圆、耳短;四肢粗壮，头顶中央有黑色冠状毛。头侧、颜面及前胸上半部为棕色;胸腹及前肢内侧乳黄色;背部灰色夹有金黄色的长毛;尾灰褐，尖端污白。无颊囊。
栖息于海拔1500-3500米的针阔叶混交林和针叶林带，树栖过群栖性的家族生活，每群约100-200只，少则20-30只。食性很杂，春季主食红桦、械树、花揪、冷杉、冬青和木姜子等树的幼嫩芽、叶和花序，秋季则以各种种子、果实、浆果等为食。发情期多在9-们月份，孕期约7个月，每年1胎，每胎1-2仔。寿命20-25年。
为我国I级重点保护动物。野生种群约有1万只。
