中国芭蕾表演团体。1959年建团时附属于北京舞蹈学校。1963年改建为中央歌剧舞剧院芭蕾舞团。1980年改建为中央芭蕾舞团。主要创办人为戴爱莲（现任艺术顾问）。现任团长李承祥，副团长白淑湘、蒋祖慧、郁蕾娣。该团在剧目建设上，一方面排练和上演外国优秀芭蕾作品,另一方面致力于创作多种题材的中国芭蕾。建团以来,演出了世界著名古典芭蕾《无益的谨慎》、《天鹅湖》、《海侠》、《吉赛尔》、《巴赫切萨拉伊的泪泉》、《巴黎圣母院》、《仙女们》等。从1964年开始创作中国题材的芭蕾，演出了《红色娘子军》、《沂蒙颂》、《草原儿女》、《祝福》、《鱼美人》等。剧团的主要编导有李承祥、蒋祖慧、王希贤、王世琦、栗承廉等；主要演员有白淑湘、钟润良、薛菁华、郁蕾娣、武兆宁、唐敏、张卫强等。舞蹈服装设计家有李克瑜。中央芭蕾舞团重视对各国芭蕾艺术发展和现状的研究，广泛开展对外艺术交流活动。先后访问了缅甸、南斯拉夫、罗马尼亚、联邦德国、奥地利、美国、菲律宾等国家，受到普遍欢迎和好评。
