The essay is about the advancement of the Print of Suzhou during Ming and Qing Dynasty, and illustrates how it gets thriving and deterioration under developing in the three periods of illustration printing between Ming and Qing Dynasty, solo printing in the mid of Qing Dynasty and Taohuawu woodcut printing in the later time of Qing Dynasty.
本文从明末清初插图版画、清中期独幅版画以及清后期桃花坞木版年画三个阶段，厘清姑苏版画在清代的发展脉落及兴衰的历史过程。

补充资料：苏绣《姑苏繁华图》
苏绣《姑苏繁华图》 苏州刺绣研究所，于1986年为庆祝苏州建城2500年，根据清代徐扬《盛世滋生图》而绣制。绣面长4米，高33厘米。绣出了260多年前清代中叶姑苏最繁华的胥门至阊门的景段，把当时苏州的繁荣街市、嘉庆场面、耕织渔牧、演戏卖艺、院考宣旨等历史风情，均绣入画面。绣面中工商店铺的陈设、行销货物的品种、街衢衙署的布局、民间习俗的情形、工具器械的形象，均忠于原作，无不与文史记载吻合。仅绣面上的各种人物，就有二千七百余人。绣卷由工艺美术家李娥英带领十四名艺人负责绣制，历时半载。运用的针法有套针、滚针、打子、斜缠等十余种，各种色线五百多种。最远处的云彩，将一根丝线劈成四十八分之一的细丝绣制而成。表现了苏绣的卓越技艺水平。
