2004年，宋祖英回到家乡湖南她的母校----湘西古丈县岩头寨乡中心完小，捐资30万元人民币，成立了 “宋祖英教育助学基金会”，意在救助家乡的贫困学子。
据了解，现在基金会已有资金400万元左右，每年发放30万元左右帮助贫困学生和奖励教师。
以前帮扶对象：贫困农村地区小孩上小学。
现在帮扶对象：倾向于高中生、大学生。
