  柳律假者。是盖持律而苦行者也。蜀开县大觉寺。有柳律师行碑剥落。其剥落未尽者。犹可摹而为言。师名法本。临江乡人。自幼神秀颖异。父母惟师一子。尤爱重之。甫七岁。举动如成人。一日忽告父母曰。儿久处尘寰。俗缘未释。今欲弃僧为僧。愿二亲莫以儿为念。殳母苦止之。继之以泣。师乃绝粒不食。父母惧。姑从之。遂削发。入山绝迹。不踵家门。勤修苦行。日夕不辍。年及十五。经笔论藏。无不该览。远近咸瞻礼之。常处厚。与师为方外交。时就请教。年九十九。一日告众曰。缘业殆尽。吾将西归。汝辈宜自勉。端坐而化圆觉律师。德明者。住金陵能仁寺。际遇太宗召见。赐紫衣并御容。及罗汉像以归。律声振江以南。求法人望之而归。真宗嗣位。复赠以诗章。有精勤演律达真风。释子南禅道少同之句。二师道行。在当时必表表一方。竟尔失传。仅于断镌残刻间得其鏎。不得言其详也。惜哉
