1. ＜玲珑四犯＞：词牌名。此调创自宋周邦彦。双调，九十九字，仄韵。姜夔又有自度曲，与周词读句不同。此为姜夔自度曲。
2.越中：今浙江绍兴市，曾为春秋越国的都城。
3.箫鼓：昔时岁暮有用箫和鼓迎春之俗。
4.垂灯：悬挂彩灯。
5.官路：官方车马经常走的路。
6.轻盈换马：指体态柔美的女子。古乐府＜杂曲歌辞＞有＜爱妾换马＞篇。换马：妓女的代称。
此词作于宋光宗绍熙四年（1193），是年作者客居越中，写下这首岁暮感怀词。词中表现了作者怀才不遇，壮志难酬的感慨和身世飘零、居无定所、孤独凄冷的心境。词中用"叠鼓夜寒，垂灯春浅，酒醒明月下，梦逐潮声去。等句，烘托出客居他乡的况味。
