性质:一种多孔状的喷出岩。俗称浮石,蜂窝石、水浮石,江沫石,海浮石(用作中药时)。矿物多为半玻璃质或全玻璃质岩石。化学成分变化较大,含二氧化硅53%~75%以上、三氧化二铝9%~20%。常呈灰、灰白、白、黄白、肉红等色。孔隙率达40%~70%,容重一般小于1g/cm3。化学工业中用作过滤剂、干燥剂、催化剂、填充剂以及农用杀虫剂的载体和肥料的控制剂。用作水泥的混合料或配制无熟料水泥,也可直接用作建筑材料。也可用作中药。
