The design of a"Simplified Auxiliary Power Unit"is to modify a Front Auxiliary Power Unit for manual wheelchair by adding a retract mechanism which can retract or release the power wheel and the steering handle so that the users can switch the wheelchair between the manual and electric modes at will.
