      从转炉的炉墙侧面吹入空气或氧气把铁水炼制成钢的转炉炼钢方法。空气酸性侧吹转炉按发明者姓氏也称特罗佩纳(Tropenas)炉。
  
  50年代中国唐山钢厂试验成功了碱性炉衬的侧吹转炉炼钢,1958年后在中国各地使用。侧吹转炉吹炼过程中的熔池成分变化见图。70年代以来,逐步为氧气转炉所替代,主要是氧气顶吹转炉,但唐山钢厂发展了氧气侧吹转炉,在该厂一个车间使用。
