Combining with practical application,the general priciple of designing monitoring pictures in distributed control system(DCS),as well as partition and separation of the monitoring pictures in DCS have been approached,the concrete requirements and designing methods for data,alarm,tendency,and operating panels etc.

This paper generally summarizes the design requirement for developing of monitoring system,and takes the automatic system of Qingshanhu Lake Water Treatment Plant in certain city as an example,and proceeding to design and develop the monitoring system picture from several components of monitoring picture.
