性质：把等摩尔的α-卤代酸与亚硝酸的钠或钾盐的水溶液加热，得到α硝基羧酸盐，再经失羧而生成硝基烷。本方法仅适用于小量制备6个碳原子以下的硝基烷，特别是适用于硝基甲烷和硝基乙烷。由于硝基烷分子中与硝基相连的碳原子上的氢很活泼，因此硝基烷可以发生一系列重要的经碳负离子中间体的缩合反应而在有机合成上具有重要用途。例如硝基甲烷经羟甲基化以后与苯甲醛缩合，再经还原、酰化即可合成氯霉素。
