| 渡船 ferry 载运旅客、车辆渡过江河、海峡的船舶。主要有旅客渡船、汽车渡船、列车渡船。旅客渡船主要用于旅客及其随身行李的渡运，也可同时渡运非机动车和小型机动车。船上只设坐席供旅客使用。汽车渡船主要用于渡运汽车及随车人员。汽车渡船有端靠式，其甲板为长方形，在首、尾两端设有铰接跳板，靠岸时跳板放下与岸搭接以上下车辆。侧靠式汽车渡船的船体较宽，汽车经岸上的跳板从两侧上下船。列车渡船用于渡运列车，船甲板为长方形，铺有轨道，列车可从两端上下，船两端均有推进装置，不需掉头。用于风浪大的海峡列车渡船的首尾与常规船形类似，以提高其适航性。由于桥梁的发展与应用，列车渡船已逐渐被淘汰，所用不多。此外，还有同时渡运列车和旅客的多用途渡船，其下层甲板放置列车，上层甲板乘坐旅客，这种渡船具有常规船形的首尾并具有上层建筑供旅客使用。
