   含氧化铅的玻璃。包括铅晶质玻璃、火石类光学玻璃、防辐射玻璃、低熔玻璃、延迟线玻璃、高折射微珠玻璃等。铅玻璃的组成式为:RmOn-PbO-SiO2(B2O3)。式中SiO2(B2O3),即氧化硅(氧化硼),称网络形成物,是构成玻璃网络结构的基本单元。RmOn,代表碱、碱土、稀土金属的金属氧化物,是使玻璃网络结构发生变化、达到调整特性的网络修改物。PbO,即氧化铅,为特征成分,赋予玻璃基本特性。随PbO含量的增加,玻璃的密度、折射率、色散、介电常数、对X射线和γ射线吸收系数等性能指标值增加;其硬度、高温粘度、软化温度、化学稳定性等指标值降低;致使玻璃成型料性变长、着色剂色彩鲜艳、表面光泽增加、敲击声清脆。
   中国早在战国时期即有铅玻璃制品。17世纪后半叶,英国制出铅晶质玻璃艺术器皿。后来广泛用于制造光学仪器、艺术器皿和用作防辐射玻璃等。
