  从事中间联络活动,促使买卖双方达成交易的一种贸易。在不同的国家(地区)间买卖商品、外汇、证券或租赁船舶时,由于买卖双方彼此不甚了解,因此不易达成协议,有时需要第三国(地区)中介人撮合。一般的情况是:甲国出口商将商品的所有权通过两国的中间商转移给乙国的进口商,而从地理位置来看,商品并不一定经过两国领土,丙国的中间商只起交易的中间人作用。交易达成后,中介人从中获取一定的报酬。
