With an example of installation of sunken boxes of the first stage project of the Guang ao harbor district of Shantou Harbor,authors state a new construction method of submerged installation of sunken boxes,weighing about 1 000 tons,with lifting boats,weighing about 200 tons.

Special attention should been paid to the requirement from the drilling and completion works during the engineering, fabrication and offshore installation of platforms, single point mooring system, subsea pipeline as well as drilling and completion is extremely important.

The platform was installed by lifting instead of conventional launch method, which significantly improved the offshore installation efficiency.
