法国矿物学家、火山学家。1863年2月4日生于法国马贡，1948年 3月12日卒于巴黎。早年学习药学和矿物学，1889年获巴黎自然历史博物馆博士学位。曾任巴黎自然历史博物馆教授、矿物馆馆长。1904年当选为法国科学学院院士。拉克鲁瓦着重于区域矿物学和火山学研究，他1888年发表的《岩石中矿物》（合著）是研究岩矿光性的最早著作。1933年他在对岩矿关系和矿物成因作了大量分析的基础上，提出岩石化学分类法，成为岩石研究从定性分析转向定量分析时期的代表人物。在火山学研究方面，他目击和研究了培雷火山、维苏威火山等的喷发过程，提出了火山穹丘的成因，首创"灼热火山云"一词，这些都是早期火山学研究的杰出工作。主要著作还有《法国及其殖民地矿物概况》（5卷,1893～1913）、《马达加斯加矿物概况》(3卷,1922～1923)和《培雷火山及其喷发》(1904)等。他还撰写过法国科学史及科学家传记方面的著作多种。
