先天禀赋性体质心、肝之气易虚易实，及躁狂抑郁性精神病易发之倾向性，是躁狂抑郁性精神病主要致病因素；躁狂抑郁性精神病最常见的临床表现，是抑郁状态与躁狂状态之交替发作；心、肝之气虚则发抑郁，心、肝之气实则发躁狂；心、肝之气易虚易实则引致郁与躁狂交替发作。
补充资料：躁狂抑郁性精神病
即情感性精神病。一类以情感障碍为主要表现的精神障碍。又称躁狂抑郁症，简称躁郁症。基本症状为情绪高涨，伴联想加速、言语增多、意志活动增强（躁狂发作或躁狂症），以及情绪低落、思维迟钝、对周围的一切不感兴趣、行动缓慢(抑郁发作或抑郁症)。这两种状态可以单独反复发作(单相型)、亦可交替发作（循环发作），以单相型较为多见。每次发作可持续数周、数月、乃至数年，缓解期精神状态正常。虽反复发作，也不导致精神衰退。又分为原发性躁狂抑郁症（较多见）及继发性躁狂抑郁症（偶见）。
