Whetstone Jizhun ehengxuWhetstone基准程序(W】letstone bench·ma比)一组用于测试系统性能的基准测试程序。 60年代由英国国家物理实验室开发成功，当时作为英国官方测试标准，发表于1976年，已有F〔)Rl，RAN，PA叹执L等版本。Whetstoll屺的目的是预测系统在浮点运算操作密集型环境下的性能表现。 whetstone的一组综合程序主要由浮点运算、整数算术运算、超越函数、功能调用、数组变址、条件转移等程序组成。虽然具有综合性，但主要用于评估浮点运算。这套程序规模不大，对存储器容量的要求比LINPACK要求的小，使用较多的是高速缓冲存储器，适用于评估小型的科学、工程应用系统。Whetstone除可以测试机器硬件性能外，还可以用来评估系统数学程序集、语言编译器及其处理效率。Whetst~常被用作工作站的测试程序。Whetstone的测试结果用K丫 VIPS(执行1 000条Whetst0lle指令每秒)表示，也可用MWlPS(执行100万条Whet-stone指令每秒)来表示。通常把VAXll/780机的测试结果作为1，其它机器与它作比较。Whetstolle值越大，说明机器性能越好。(詹文岛)
