| 谱牒 记录中国氏族世系的书。熟悉或编纂谱牒的学问称为谱学。中国古代最早的谱牒是《世本》，记黄帝到春秋时列国诸侯大夫的氏姓世系，已亡佚。魏晋南北朝时社会重门阀，士族为了维护其世代相传的优越社会地位，以区别于庶族寒门，谱牒成为重要工具，谱学因而广泛流行。谱牒的作用有4个方面：①当时朝廷任官命职要考虑人选的门第和家世，必须参考谱牒。②士族一般不负担徭役兵役，而庶族则否。政府为了征发，要防止庶族冒充士族，规避徭役。除户籍上表明这种区别之外，谱牒也是一种依据。③当时婚姻注重门当户对，结姻亲时定要了解对方门第家世和世代仕宦情况，谱牒是必要的参考。④当时社会风习重避家讳，与人谈话中如触及对方父祖的名讳，即为不敬。所以社交需要熟知谱牒。谱牒姓氏之学，到唐代还受到重视，此类书有《元和姓纂》、《姓氏录》、《贞观氏族志》等。 |
