| 大气污染 atmospheric pollution 大气中污染物或由它转化成的二次污染物的浓度达到有害程度的现象。人类生产和生活过程中产生的气态和颗粒物质，随烟气排入大气，其中一些有害物质达到一定浓度时，就会危害人体健康、植物生长等，或间接造成不利于人类生存的后果。 最普遍的大气污染物是能源利用中产生的 SO2、NOx 、烟尘、 CO2等。前三者可直接伤害人体、植物和材料，并可能在大气中转化成酸，形成酸雨。CO2 以及农田、土壤排放的CH4和N2O可使地面气温上升，扰乱传统农业布局，使两极冰层融化、海平面上升，淹没沿海富饶地区。喷雾剂、氟氯烃等则会破坏臭氧层，使皮肤癌症增加。许多工业释放入大气的污染物，如汽车排气中的CO和铅、煤和柴油燃烧排放的烟尘中的多环芳烃，更是危险的致癌物质。NOx和碳氢化合物形成的O3可使农业减产。在一些工厂邻近还会受到不同类型的污染物的危害。农田施用农药、除草剂，通过食物链，危害鸟类甚至人类。住宅内一些装饰材料也会释放对人体健康有害的物质，如甲醛、氡、石棉等。大气污染物随风飘移到远方，沉落入土壤和水体，亦会形成土壤和水体的污染。据统计，有毒有害的化学物质竟达几万种。世界各国正逐步联合采取措施，避免使用有毒化学物质，消除大气污染对人类的危害。
