性质:不伴随有明显塑性形变的断裂现象。在应力-应变曲线上应力近乎线性地随应变而增长直至断裂。断裂对应的应变值一般小于5%。脆性断裂和韧性断裂的区别还表现在较低的断裂能和具有光滑特征的断裂面。同一聚合物材料在不同条件下可以表现为脆性断裂或韧性断裂。在较低的温度和较大的应变速度时容易发生脆性断裂。一般聚合物在明显低于玻璃化温度时往往表现出脆性断裂行为。随着温度升高,超过脆性-韧性转变温度时,断裂方式就变成韧性的。
