A new gearing theory that has constant instantaneous contact ratio is discussed in order to reduce or avoid the vibration and noise caused by the exchanging of single contact and double contact of meshing teeth,and inherently leads meshing stiffness fluctuation which is a major source of vibration excitation in gear chain,especially in high speed and high power density transmis-sions.
