The paper proves the advantage of evaluating sand filling compactness by reinforcement penetration method and makes the contrast test of reinforcement penetration and ring sampler method so as to discover the method for determining the relation between dry density and reinforcement penetration of sand filling.

Adopting sand filling embankment in areas rich in coarse sand and medium sand can save a lot of arable land,reduce machine-team greatly,at the same time,the technical indexes of embankment can meet the specifications,and the construction period is also less affected by wet weather,so it is of great practicability.
