德意志联邦共和国培养档案专业人才的高等学校。院址在黑森州的马尔堡。建于1894年,1904年停办,1949年恢复。黑森州档案馆馆长兼院长。1964年起设有研究班和大学班。研究班带有"档案科学研究院"性质，大学班带有"档案专科大学"性质。学员大都由联邦、州、市和教会档案馆推荐。研究班的报考条件是：有博士学位或高等学校历史专业毕业，并通过中等教育师资一级国家考试，熟悉历史辅助科目，有丰富的拉丁语和法语知识；大学班的报考条件是：受过大学正规教育或具有同等学历，并有丰富的拉丁语和法语知识。学员在学院的实际学习时间均为3个学期(18个月),入学前都必须在当地的档案馆进行6个月的入门实习。 大学班还要求入学前在行政管理专科学校学习行政管理课程 6个月。学院的课程由马尔堡大学的教授以及德意志联邦共和国和其他国家的档案专家讲授。研究班讲授 3个方面的课程：档案管理(档案工作标准、声像档案、现代情报技术等)，辅助学科(古文字学、古文书学、法语和拉丁语文献,纹章学、印章学、古钱币学等)，历史(法律史、行政史、地方史等)。大学班的课程分为两个阶段：前4个月学习历史基础课程，如德国宪法史、法律史、行政管理史、社会史、经济史等，后14个月学习档案管理，重点是现代技术。课程学完后，要在教学档案馆进行 6个月的结业实习，其中包括实习考察和结业考试。实习考察也可到邻近国家的档案馆进行。从1949年到1984年，学院共开出40门课程，研究班和大学班毕业人数共计 809人。院长J.帕普里茨著的 4卷本《档案学》(1975初版,1983再版)，共计1508页，是迄今篇幅最大的一部档案学著作。
