Generally, the bias mainly comes from the process of literature searching, study selection and data extraction, among which the publication bias that comes from the process of literature searching is the hardest to overcome.

Primary objective To avoid selection and publication bias, systematic reviewers should employ a broad range of search techniques and make efforts to locate unpublished studies.

In this article, the causes and consequences of bias would be introduced briefly, and the methods of detecting and correcting for publication bias would be discussed.

The aim of this article is to determine whether the researchers can correctly identify publication bias from visual inspection of funnel plots in diverse-size Meta-analysis.
