加在望远镜焦面前以改进成像质量并扩大可用视场的透镜（包括非球面板）。主要用在反射望远镜的主焦点和卡塞格林焦点处。像场改正透镜要便于装卸，在需要较大视场时，将它们加上；在只需较小视场时，如单颗星的分光和测光工作中，就将它们卸下，或换上片数尽量少的改正透镜。相对口径为1/8的一般R-C望远镜，若要求像斑弥散小于0奬5，在3600～10000埃的波段范围内，用一套材料相同的两片型球面像场改正透镜，可获得角直径略大于1°的平面视场。相对口径为1/3.5的抛物面镜主焦点系统，若要求像斑弥散小于0奬5,在3600～10000埃波段范围内,分别用三套材料相同的四片型球面像场改正透镜，可获得角直径约1°的平面视场。
