通过回顾夜明珠的理论研究现状 ,指出夜明珠夜光的本质不是传统所谓磷光 ,而是指巨粒金刚石熠熠闪光和自然出火的光学性质 ,是金刚石对于白光折射、反射、全反射和色散等综合作用的结果 ;同时通过比较矿物的光学性质 ,得出夜明珠的本质就是自然出火的、具有曲面形或似球形的巨粒金刚石 ,而不是光学性质与金刚石类似的锆石、金红石、石榴石 ,也不是折光率和色散系数明显低于金刚石的其它宝石、工艺石材、料珠或者珍珠。

| 夜光云 noctilucent cloud 深曙暮期间出现于地球高纬度地区高空的一种发光而透明的波状云。常呈淡蓝色或银灰色，夜光云中的冰晶颗粒散射太阳光的结果，这类冰晶颗粒的半径一般为0.05～0.5微米。夜光云多出现于70～90千米的高空，云层厚度一般不足2千米，云面积可达300万平方千米。只有当太阳在地平线以下6°～12°时，即低层大气在地球阴影内，而高层大气的夜光云被日光照射时，才能用肉眼直接观察到。夜光云存在的时间从几分钟到几个小时。强夜光云的亮度相当于国际二级极光亮度；弱夜光云一般用肉眼看不见，只有用紫外或红外光学仪器观察。关于夜光云的信息，主要来自火箭和卫星的探测。对夜光云的研究，可揭示中间层顶的大气结构、大气波动和化学过程等的规律。 |
