性质:周期系第Ⅱ族主族元素。原子序数4。稳定同位系:9。原子量9.012182。浅灰色金属。硬而有展性。密度1.85。是碱土金属中最轻的。熔点1285℃。沸点2970℃。主要化合价+2。常温时在空气中稳定与铝的性质相似,能形成保护性的氧化层,高温时燃烧生成氧化物。不溶于冷水,微溶于热水,溶于稀盐酸、稀硫酸和氢氧化钾溶液而放出氢,也溶于冷的浓硝酸。用于制伦琴射线管、铍铝合金、铍铜合金(不生火花),又可用于原子反应堆中作减速剂(效果比氢、氘、氦均佳)以及中子反射体、电气和电子工业以及航天器材料等。自然界存在于绿柱石矿中。由解熔融的氯化铍或氢氧化铍制得。铍化合物有毒,能引起皮炎或慢性病。
