Shantou
ShQntou汕头(shantou)中国广东省东部重要港口城市。位于台湾海峡南口西侧，介于厦「〕与香港之间。滨临南海，扼韩、榕、练三江人海口。为粤闽海运交通要冲。辖龙湖、金园、升平、达壕4区和南澳、澄海2县。而积756平方千米，人口175.94万，其中市区面积246平方千米，人口91.48万(1993)。 宋末元初，市区北部形成较大渔村，称“下岭”，属揭阳县管辖。明洪武二十年(1387)，设蓬州守御千户所。嘉靖四十二年(1563)属澄海县。万历三年(1575)，江口沙脊积聚成片，称为“沙汕坪”。清康熙五十六年(1 717)，在此筑烟墩，建炮台，称“沙汕头”，后简称“汕头”。1 861年辟为通商口岸。1921年设市政厅与澄海县分治。1930年正式设市，1975年为省辖市。1981年始建经济特区。 属亚热带海洋性气候。年平均气温21.3℃。年平均降水量1 569，9毫米。6一9月常受热带气旋影响。工业主要有感光化学、罐头食品、电子仪器等。潮汕平原盛产柑桔、甘蔗、稻谷。沿海水产品丰富。 市区被汕头港分隔成两部分:北部为市区主要部分和码头区，地势低平;南部为丘陵地。中间为港域，东起德洲岛(鹿屿)，西止龟屿，长13千米，宽约1千米。属不正规半日潮港。汕头港有泊位12个。1 993年吞吐量662万吨。内河航运有韩江、榕江、练江航线。广州一梅县一汕头的铁路全线通车。公路干线可西通广州、北达梅县、东到厦门等地。民航有通往广州、上海、厦门、昆明、香港、曼谷、新加坡等地的航班。(宋玉伦)
