由一事物引起对另一事物想象的心理过程。在电影创作中，联想是始终贯彻于整个创作过程的。联想在影片中的具体表现，大致可分为下述 3类：①由有相似特点的事物形成类似的联想。这种触景生情，或遇到某人某事勾起对类似的人和事的思念，是联想最普遍的表现方式。②由有对立关系的事物产生对比的联想。在影片中习见的有在欢乐时想起昔日苦难的情景等等。③有因果关系的事物产生因果的联想。在影片中常见的有面对着一片荒原，想到将来变成肥沃的良田；由今天堵江截流建电站，想到明天彻夜通明的景象等等。
