档案馆的一种类型， 是工厂、 矿山、农场、公司、银行、学校、医院、科研等单位自行设立的永久性保管本单位及所属部门档案的专门机构。在西欧、北美一些国家中，私人企业档案馆和大学档案馆建立较早，如德国的克虏伯公司档案馆和西门子公司档案馆，分别成立于1905年和1907年；美国哈佛大学档案馆成立于1939年。到20世纪80年代，这些国家的企业、事业档案馆已有很大发展，美国1980年已拥有企业档案馆 200个。有些国有化企业的档案馆在一定程度上接受国家档案馆的监督。在社会主义国家，企业、事业档案馆均在国家档案行政管理部门的监督之下。中国也已在一些大型企业、事业单位逐步建立起档案馆，如鞍山钢铁公司档案馆、扬子石油化工公司档案馆和南京大学档案馆等，这些档案馆不仅管理档案，而且对本企业、事业的各个档案室进行业务指导和监督。
