英国图书馆协会主办的专科文献检索刊物。前身是1950年M.洛克和R.N.洛克创办的《图书馆学文摘》季刊，1969年改今名，并改为双月刊。1983年又改为月刊。收录英国不列颠图书馆和英国图书馆协会图书馆所收藏的60个国家、34种文字的专业文献，涉及图书馆学、情报学、档案学以及图书出版、发行和复制等学科专业领域，以期刊论文(每年约摘录550种期刊)为主,兼收图书、小册子、报告、会议录和论文集等。文摘款目按分类编排，采用英国图书馆协会分类法研究组编制的《图书馆学和情报学分类法》(1971年版)。文摘用英文撰写。每期后附主题字顺索引(采用链式索引法)和名称索引 (包括著者和会议名称等，1979年起兼收作为主题词出现的机构、系统等专有名词)。有年度和多年累积索引。 已建立机读文档(回溯1950～1969年)，并已制作光盘，用户可通过联机检索和光盘检索从中获得文献信息，从英国不列颠图书馆或英国图书馆协会借阅和复制原始资料。
