When the New Fourth Army fought against the Japanese invaders in Yanfu area,from October 1940 to August 1945,they actively carried out all forms of cultural activities,such as literature,music,art,drama performance,singing and so on which had a tremendous impact on the warfare and the cultural activities in the anti-Japanese bases of the north of Jiangsu province.
盐阜区新四军文艺活动之所以能够发展壮大,主要是由于军事战略的需要、革命文艺的影响、文艺人才的积极参与等多方面因素。

Nuo culture,originated from a religious folk-custom in Yanfu areas,a unique performing form taken by sorcerers in ancient festivals to exorcise the devil causing any plague,developed into a play concerning pray for blessings,then into an activity greeting the god to drive away the plague,at last into Huai opera,a local opera well-known in Yanfu areas.
傩祭活动由巫师主持,内容多为迎神娱神,形式多为装扮迎神的歌舞,由此发展为盐阜地区的"香火戏"和"僮子戏",进而演变为遍布城乡的"做会"大型祭祀活动"念忏"。

抗日战争时期中国共产党盐阜区委员会、苏北五地委机关报。1943年 4月25日在江苏盐城创刊。原为8开1张，双周刊，后改为 4开1张，周双刊。第1任社长王阑西。以农村基层干部和群众为主要读者对象。注重通俗化 、大众化和联系群众 。要求做到粗识字的人看得懂，不识字的人听得懂。规定所载文章一般不超过三四百字，每期报纸不同的字不超过1000个。排版力求方块化，有文有图，成为广大群众喜爱的报纸。该报注重培养工农通讯员，陈登科是在该报精心培养下成长起来的记者和作家。1966年12月停刊。1980年元旦复刊，是中国共产党江苏省盐城市委员会机关报。
