补充资料：哈德菲尔德
英国冶金学家。曾就读于设菲尔德学院，后在其父创办的铸钢厂工作。1882年开始系统研究硅钢和锰钢，制造出含锰12～14％的高锰耐磨钢。1889年又制成电工用硅钢片。他还研究过公元 4世纪锻造的印度德里铁柱，是用实验手段研究古代冶金的开拓者之一。1914～1920年任法拉第学会主席，1909年当选为英国皇家学会会员。
