中国较早的农村社会学著作之一。副题为"中国农村社会研究"。冯和法著。上海黎明书局1929年初版,到1934年共出4版。第4版时作者进行了较大的修改。全书15章,分为三部分。第一部分包括3章,概述了一般农村社会学及农村社会的性质、概况、农村与都市的差异。第二部分是本书的重点部分，包括7章,内容以中国农村现象为主线，阐述了中国农村人口的构成与现象、土地关系及雇佣劳动、农村金融、农产物贸易等。第三部分包括5章，前4章论述中国农村的剥削关系，中国的农业恐慌及农村破产的现象、土地政策、教育与农村改进；后一章是结论，简略叙述了中国农村社会的变迁。
该书从社会生产关系入手，注意分析各种农村社会现象在动的方面彼此间的关系，也注意考察农村社会现象与都市社会现象间的关联，从总的社会现象中去研究农村社会现象的构成、变动及趋势。书中通过大量的事实，论证了中国是一个半封建半殖民地的社会。作者认为,研究农村社会不仅在于理论探讨,还在于提出实行的方案。该书在当时被十几所农学院列为大学教科书，是研究中国农村问题的一部重要的著作。
