【来源】
为江蓠科植物江蓠的藻体。
【植物形态】
江蓠(《纲目》) 藻体直立，丛生，高10～50厘米，可达1米，紫褐色，有时略带绿色或黄色，干后变褐，软骨质，线形，圆柱状，基部具有一盘状固着器，一般具一主干，径1～2毫米，分枝1～2次，向各个方向互生或偏生，枝径O.5～1毫米。藻体的内部为大的薄壁细胞组成的髓部，外围以2～5层逐渐变小的皮层细胞。四分孢子囊紫红色，散生在藻体的表面，埋于皮层细胞中，十字形分裂，精子囊生于浅坑或生殖窠状的下陷部分内，色淡黄。囊果球形或半球形。 在肥沃、平静的内湾中生长最好。分布我国沿海各地。

《纲目》："甘，寒，无毒。"
